FROM KAUA‘I TO VETERINARY MEDICINE
My connection to horses began on the island of Kaua‘i, where I was born and raised. I grew up surrounded by ranch life and the rhythm of caring for horses, spending time at Po‘oku Stables on the North Shore and learning from the people who shaped that community. Experiencing Hurricanes ‘Ewa and ‘Iniki, taught me how essential preparation, proper care, and thoughtful support are when horses face injury or recovery.
After high school, I left the islands with a dream to learn everything I could about caring for animals. My journey took me to Los Angeles Pierce College in California, where I earned my license as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). Leaving home wasn’t easy, but the desire to serve animals — especially horses — guided every step.
For nearly 30 years, I devoted my life to veterinary medicine. Those decades gave me more than just hands‑on experience; they taught me compassion, patience, and the quiet strength it takes to support an animal through pain, healing, and recovery. Every horse, every patient, every moment shaped the way I care today.
And through all those years, horses remained close to my heart. I’ve ridden horses in Western Pleasure, Ranch Trail, Barrel Racing. My professional training and my lifelong connection as a horsewoman have given me a deep, personal understanding of how unique each horse truly is — their personalities, their challenges, their resilience, and the way they depend on us to help them feel their best.
When I discovered the power of Advanced Subzero Cryotherapy to support horses through recovery and the demands of training, I knew I had found something meaningful to share with my Hawai‘i Nei ‘ohana — a blend of science, experience, and deep love for horses that guides me in caring for your horse as if they were part of my own ‘ohana.
